Robin Landman CV

Robin’s family came to the United Kingdom from South Africa as political refugees in 1964. A Politics graduate, Robin qualified as a teacher in 1977 and taught in London, including a teacher exchange in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1987 Robin moved into further education at Brixton College. In 1990 he was appointed Head of Faculty at Southwark College. Following this, he worked in the Further Education Funding Council, during which time he qualified as a part-time registered inspector.

In 1997 he was appointed as Assistant Principal at Bilston Community College. In 1999 he was recruited as FET Adviser to British Training International (now VET Partnerships section of the British Council), from which position he was seconded to work as General Manager of the National Business Initiative’s Colleges Collaboration Fund in South Africa until 2001. His most recent post in FE was as Deputy Principal at Hackney Community College. He is currently Executive Director of the Network for Black Managers and Director of LMS Associates consultancy.

Robin was a founder member of the Network for Black Managers (NbM). He is a member of the Commission for Black Staff in Further Education, and is Chair of the CRE FE Forum in the South of England. He served on the FEFC’s Local Priorities Working Group, and is a member of the Association for College Management’s National Council. He is Chair of the National Coalition of Black-led Organisations (NCBLO) which aims to improve the social, economic and political positon of the Black communities of the UK.
